Depending on the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic objectives, Dr. Adibfar may perform either a closed rhinoplasty, with all incisions concealed inside the nose, or an open rhinoplasty, which utilizes a small, discreet incision at the base of the columella to provide enhanced surgical access and precision.
Recovery Timeline
Recovery varies from patient to patient, but the following timeline provides a general guideline:
- First 48–72 hours: Swelling, bruising around the eyes, and nasal congestion are expected. Head elevation and cold compresses as directed will help minimize discomfort and swelling. A cast is worn during this period to support and protect the nose.
- Day 5–7: Bruising and swelling begin to improve.The splint is typically removed approximately 7 days after surgery during a follow-up appointment with Dr. Adibfar.
- Weeks 1–2: Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and light daily activities. The splint is typically removed at the one-week mark, revealing early results.
- Weeks 3–6: Swelling continues to resolve and the nasal profile becomes more refined. Exercise may be gradually reintroduced once cleared by Dr. Adibfar.
- 6–12 months: Residual swelling — particularly in the nasal tip — continues to diminish. Final results become fully apparent as the nose settles completely over the coming months.
