Body Lift

When exercise and diet cannot improve the shape and contour of your body after significant weight loss, a body lift can remove excess skin and fat to create a smoother, firmer, and more athletic appearance. Your surgeon will customize the procedure according to your needs, carefully planning the areas to be treated — typically the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, and thighs — to achieve natural and harmonious results. In a full body lift, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin and tissues are tightened and repositioned. Liposuction is often combined to refine the contours. Incisions are placed in discreet locations, such as around the lower abdomen (hip to hip), in the groin area, and under the buttocks, so they can be hidden by underwear or clothing as much as possible.

Walking is possible soon after surgery, but you will need to keep your body slightly elevated when resting to reduce swelling and discomfort. A compression garment must be worn to support the new contours and help minimize swelling. Once the dressings are removed, light walking is encouraged to promote circulation and help your body adjust. Normal daily activities may return after three to four weeks, while more vigorous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided until ten to twelve weeks after surgery.
